The Blessedness Of A Day
We are not guaranteed the next moment, the next hour or the next day. What we have is now and today. This is life in the divine - right here, right now. A step by step walk with the LORD. Why am I bothered about the next moment when I know I am not assured of it. In fact I see this as the way the LORD works with us. He give us what we need in the now. I should not be worried if my relationship with the LORD will be fine tomorrow, I just need to stay with Him today…and tomorrow should be just okay.
He didn’t give the children of Israel manner for the next day but rather for the current day. This is life in the spirit, a dependent life on a ever present reliable source. Because of the fall, man started seeking independence from God, man wanted to be the source hence man wants provisions of more than a day, in a way to be self sufficient. This is the way of error.
Matthew being the book of the kingdom reveals something very striking - Matthew 6: 33-34
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own
Verse 33, shows us that we should seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. While verse 34 says therefore do not worry about tomorrow. This is the way of life in the kingdom of God. My focus should be on seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Whenever I notice I am no longer seeking then worry will be around the corner.
Remember, men worry because they want to secure tomorrow- which isn’t even guaranteed yet we waste today worrying about tomorrow. This is the state of being self sufficient, that is independence from God, which is the way of death, it is life in the flesh. The kingdom life is a seeking life, it is what you are given that should be sufficient for you. Contentment must be my watch word else I start worrying why I don’t have this and that.
The thing is people of the world grapple and worry over these things but Jesus Christ is saying our way of life is to seek and not to worry. Seeking shows we are not the source but are seeking the source and the source says sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
If I will do well with what God has given me, be it - a verse, ₦100, a day, an hour, a little revelation, a small burden. Then God is satisfied as He knows I have fulfilled the reason for which that provision was made.
The blessedness of a day, a moment, a revelation etc., is simply living by what has been provided by the Father. Amen.
