The Essence Of An Effort
Today I had a conversation with a friend and she was of the opinion why the need for yearly birthday wishes. I reminded her the essence of those birthday wishes were not in the messages itself but in the fact that people took out time in their daily routine to remember its your special day and thought it important enough to send a message much more in this ever busy and distracting world. The essence is the remembrance and effort taken.
I believe this how things are valued generally in life. Look at the story of David in 2 Samuel 23:14-17, though it was water that David longed for but difficulty in getting that water equated the water to the blood of those three mighty men. If we only look at things from the face value, we will be blinded to the real worth of those things.
Jesus Christ made a reference on how to truly value things from the perspective of God in Mark 12:41-44.
43 And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
44 For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
Even Jesus said the poor widow gave more because the she gave out of her want.
We must begin to look at things from the difficulty in attainment to really get their worth. May we not be so blinded to see things from the physical point but rather from the place of sacrifice.
