What is Your Perspective
Perspective is a very important factor in the life of a person. Put simply, perspective means a point of view. How you view a matter (that is your perspective) determines the position you will take in the final analysis.
Just as we as humans are diverse so also are our perspective and this result in a lot of disputes seen in business life, relationship, etc. … in almost everything. Two people of different backgrounds and ethnicities can be in synced because they have the same perspective on an issue. Hence one of the ways to avoid a lot of conflict will be either to see things from same perspective or to have tolerance for the next person with a different point of view.
If you have been following my writing, you must have noticed that I almost always make reference to the scripture, this is because I have chosen to see things from the lenses of the scriptures. Sometimes it is not palatable, in fact it is correctional in some instance because as a person I might hold a differing view on a matter. But I decided long ago to take the position of the scripture once I know it is what the scripture is saying. This basically means I see things from the lenses of the scriptures…sometimes it might not go well with those around but that does not bother me, my first concern is - what does the bible say about this?, once that is clarified, it becomes my perspective on that matter going forward.
As a believer, if pleasing God is topmost priority to you then it is only a must that you see things from the point of view of the scriptures.
Matthew 5: 21-48 shows vividly the perspective of God on different practices as taught by Jesus Christ. The people in Jesus’ day practiced differently but I believe Jesus brought God’s perspective on those matters so that His disciples will know God’s stand on those issues and likewise follow same.
21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
“Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time“….implies a general belief that has become a tradition. I looked like its is the general practice of people of that age, but guess what? God perspective on that matter is very different.
Finally, in this present age where we are faced with a lot of peer pressure to behave in a certain way, it is very possible that though the general public is okay with it yet God has a different view on the matter. It is my resolve to know God’s perspective on such matters and I hope you will resolve to know God’s mind on such issues.
